Field Hockey

2022 Season information


Anyone interested in playing Girls Field Hockey must have a completed PIAA form including a Physical before Tryouts. Form needs to be completed by a health care professional.

FH will be open to girls of all skill sets. Basics will be taught starting at Tryouts and each practice thereafter. Those interested in playing MUST ATTEND TRYOUTS.

Pre-Season Preparation and Exercise

It is also important to start preparing for workouts now, the team will be running and is expected to keep up the cardio pace of games and practice.

Students will be expected to:

  • Jog 2 miles without stopping
  • Run a mile under 10 minutes

Players should complete distance runs, sprints, and strength training to be physically prepared to play at the varsity level

Tryouts/ Practice

Will begin the week of August 15, 2022 @ Franklin Towne Charter HS (exact location TBD closer to the date)

FYI: Northeast HS will be hosting a field hockey clinic open to all girls interested the week prior to August 15th. Returning players and even new players are encouraged to attend clinic.  Please keep checking the field hockey page for more information on this and for try outs.

Equipment REQUIRED for practice and try outs

-Girls Field Hockey Stick (School does have sticks to borrow)

-MOUTH GUARD – mandatory

-goggles (lacrosse players can use their same goggles, not required for play but encouraged)

-RUNNING sneakers mandatory

-CLEATS mandatory

- 3 bottles of water minimum but more is encouraged

- workout attire. No Tank tops allowed, and shorts need to be at a fingertip length or longer.

Other things to note

Students will be expected to attend every practice and game

Student MUST maintain their grades and school attendance

Students will be expected to find their own transportation to practice (Walking in groups to field, SEPTA, or carpool)

Students will be expected to find their own transportation to games (if school transportation is not available)

Students must communicate any conflicting issues with practice or games with Coach Klein ahead of time
