Scholarships

Welcome to our scholarship page!

Scholarships can help students and their families offset the cost of attending college. The amount a student receives in scholarship money is directly related to the amount of effort they put into researching and applying for scholarships. Franklin Towne students are eligible to receive multiple types of scholarships (listed below). Throughout the year, the FTCHS Guidance Office receives numerous scholarship opportunities from community organizations, corporations, foundations, and academic institutions. All current scholarship opportunities, along with a monthly scholarship newsletter are posted to students on Teams. Students should also create profiles on scholarship search engine websites (listed under RESOURCES below). These search engines match student information to scholarships all over the web and will email students when matching scholarships are available.

There are many different types of scholarships available to students pursing all types of post-secondary education.

The most common scholarships may be classified as:

Merit-based: based on a student's academic, artistic, athletic or other abilities
Need-based: based on the student and family's financial record and require applicants to fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to qualify
Student-specific: applicants must initially qualify based upon gender, race, religion, family and medical history, or many other student-specific factors
Career-specific: a college or university awards to students who plan to pursue a specific field of study
College-specific: offered by individual colleges and universities to highly qualified applicants
